Two Exercises to Relieve Back Pain and Correct Posture

happy-adult-woman-yoga-class-sq-400Are you suffering from an aching back? You want relief whether you have back pain from lifting a too-heavy object, a fall, or other cause. Postural problems? From slouching at your workstation to looking down at your digital devices, poor posture can become a bigger problem if not addressed.

In a YouTube video, Dr Stott (Chiropractor) explains how to perform the Goblet Squat exercise, a great way to strengthen the lower body. While performing this exercise, keeping the chest out and the lower back curved is essential, not allowing the knees to track forward of the toes.

To work your upper back, check out the Standing Row exercise with resistance bands, which Dr Stott explains how to do in his YouTube video. This exercise is excellent for general back activation and postural strengthening and works on the rhomboid muscles.

The Benefits of Exercise

There are many benefits associated with performing these exercises:

Core strength and overall stability can improve, possibly benefiting the lumbar spine. It engages your core muscles, including those in your abdomen and lower back. This helps to stabilise your spine and pelvis, improving your overall core strength.

Strengthening the muscles that support your spine may help improve your posture and reduce the risk of upper and lower back pain.

The Importance of Using Proper Form

It’s essential to perform the exercises with proper form and technique to maximise the benefits and reduce the risk of injury. We are happy to demonstrate how you can perform these exercises at home for optimum benefit.

Chiropractic for Back Pain & Posture Problems

Of course, chiropractic care also may address back discomfort and postural issues. Depending on your situation, we recommend chiropractic adjustments, mobilisations, soft tissue work, custom stretches and exercises, or cold laser therapy.

Various techniques are used at the practice, including manual (hands-on) and instrument-assisted methods tailored to your needs and preferences. Moreover, by adjusting the spine and other joints, our chiropractors can correct misalignments contributing to poor posture.

Take that first step towards relief and improved posture. Contact Stott Chiropractic today to book an appointment!
